WCC Europe presents a new webinar on craftsmanship and sustainability: how to contribute to the Green Deal
The World Crafts Council Europe, a non-profit organization that promotes craftsmanship at the European and international level, is organizing a free, online event on the possible synergies between craftsmanship and sustainability on 19 October 2022 at 5:00 pm CEST, to underline the positive impacts that the sector can have on the green economy, and vice versa.
“Crafting the path to a greener Europe” is a webinar aimed at artisans, students, sector operators and interested parties who want to deepen the topic of sustainability linked to the world of craft, thanks to a series of interventions that will lead to the heart of the issue, and already existing good practices.
During the meeting, particular attention will be paid to the values of the New European Bauhaus. This online event, in fact, is part of a series of webinars dedicated to NEB, and created by WCC Europe as part of the “Crafting the Future” project (co-financed by Creative Europe). The objective of these dissemination actions is to “underline the important transformative role that European artistic craftsmanship plays as an engine of sustainability and the circular economy, maximizing its potential towards combating climate change, also reducing the environmental impact of own activities “. Artisans will play an important role in shaping a “beautiful and sustainable” future, as the NEB claim.
Through these dissemination and communication actions, WCC Europe intends to raise awareness of the importance of craftsmanship as a fundamental part of the community’s cultural, social and economic life. Not surprisingly, sustainability and the circular economy are at the forefront of the current challenges of the craft sector. The webinar therefore aims to strengthen the skills of the craft sector in building a more resilient and sustainable society, encouraging the necessary adoption of good practices and innovative practices.
