European Artistic Crafts Days

On the occasion of the 2024 European Artistic Crafts Days, the event organized in various European countries to draw the attention of the general public to the crafts and Master Artisans, taking place during the week from April 2nd to April 7th, Artex offers a rich calendar of events throughout the Tuscan territory and online. The project, carried out by Artex, expands the initiative originally born in France in 2002 and promoted by INMAInstitut National des Metiers d’Art in Paris, which annually proposes the European Artistic Crafts Days, dedicated each time to a specific theme. Since 2012, when the event gained a European dimension, Artex has been actively participating by choosing to collaborate with Master Artisans recognized by the Tuscany Region and in 2023 it assumed the role of coordinator for initiatives carried out by other entities at national level.

DI MANO IN MANO (FROM HAND TO HAND)

The theme for 2024 revolves around the transmission of knowledge from the expert touch to the hands of the artisans of the future. Throughout the EACD week, across the entire Tuscan territory, Master Artisans will conduct workshops, organize special openings and offer studio visits. Additionally, during the weekend, six free hands-on workshops are scheduled at Officina Creativa by Artex, located at Conventino fuori le Mura, Via Giano della Bella 20, in Florence. These workshops, designed for both youth and adults, will be led by Master Artisans with the aim of introducing new generations and the general public to artistic craftsmanship, providing a deeper understanding of the values embedded in handmade, artfully crafted objects. Due to limited capacity, reservations for the workshop activities are required.

Artex is working on 2024 EACD programme, meanwhile you can download the report of the 2023 edition here.

Opening the doors of the workshops and discovering the European Art Crafts Days is like immersing yourself in an extraordinary world. It is also and above all to understand the closeness and simplicity of a living, rich and sparkling heritage. It is meeting authentic personalities, looking at their instruments, touching their ideas and their creativity. A privileged moment of sharing and openness, this discovery is a source of amazement and new perspectives for everyone.

The 2024 EACD edition is developed with the support of the World Crafts Council Europe and the Crafting the Future project, which is co-funded by the European Commission.
